Difference between 184 pin DDR and 184 pin DDR2 RAM?

Dell system.
PROCESSOR, 80546, 2.8, 1M, PENTIUM 4 PRESCOTT DT, 533, E0
DUAL IN-LINE MEMORY MODULE, 256, 400M, 32X64, 8K, 184

This show as having 184 pin DDR2 400 RAM.

On Crucials site, it shows DDR RAM as being compatible. Are they basically the same stick? I thought all DDR2 RAM was 240 pin, so I have no idea about this.

What model dell is this?

There is a HUGE difference bettwen DDR and DDR2 memory, one will not work in the other. If you'll tell me the model, I'll know which you need.

Dimension 3000.
It's a buddies, but I've never even seen the actual machine. He gave the service code and Dell support says that it is DDR2 400.

Dim 3000 uses DDR memory, not DDR2. There are also only 2 DIMM slots.

And btw, Corsair Value Select DDR 400 will work in this system.
