Why doesn't Smash Bros Melee go to Players Choice, always saying "Best Seller" and so does Double Dash... Some games like Star Fox have both the Players Choice and Best Seller labels on them... What does that mean?

The Player's Choice line was introduced for GameCube titles in January of 2003.[2] The first titles were Super Smash Bros. Melee, Pikmin, and Luigi's Mansion, and they each retailed for $29.99.

It is rumored that Nintendo may be phasing out the Player's Choice designation altogether; recent printings of successful games (including some titles on this list) no longer carry the Player's Choice label, but are instead marked on the box as simply being "Best Sellers".[citation needed] This "Best Sellers" label may also be unrelated to the Player's Choice designation because they appear on first party titles even on its initial printing (before any sales data is possible). This tends to show that the "Best Sellers" label may merely be a marketing tool.

It seems that the players choice is for all crappy games (not worth more than $20) and all good ones are Best Sellers, meaning they never get to be $20... Always $30...

I always felt games were marked in those categories for two main reasons:

1) They actually were very popular, and to increase sales late inthe game's life, they would just drop the price and label them as such
2) The game always sucked, and to help boost sales, they include a sh1tty game with all the other "greatest hits" hoping to convince people that they really are good.

Also, most of the really great games don't hit that designation until way late in life, and for good reason from the Industry stand-point. If they continue to sell really well late in life, why drop the price? I'm mostly thinking of PS2 "greatest hits," and how long it takes games like GTA, X-Men Legends, and I don't know..."Bass Fisherman" to hit the category. San Andreas is 2+ years old, still not there. Legends did it in less than a year, maybe...and games like Bass Fisher are sent straight to "Greatest Hits."

Look at the list of Players Choice games on Wikipedia. I don't see many games on there that I would say suck.

I've always assumed that Players Choice were all games $19.99 (or vice versa).

Best Seller is a new thing and all games there are $29.99
I'm assuming that they are excellent games which they can still make money off, hence Smash Bros is there...I'm pretty sure some of the games in this category sold 2-3 million copies world wide at least.
I've never heard of the "Best Seller" category for N64 or previous games...only Gamecube, so it's new.
