I have a Paypal (Providian) card with 24% interest, that I don't keep a balance on... th egood perk is the free monthly updated FICO score on your account status page. (They track it and give you a little chart) They also have a FICO score simulator, showing how it will change with certain stimuliI (a late payment, paying off a card etc).

Strange, I haven't seen one person post the important number about your credit card. These cashback and airline miles are all well and good, but the number that matters is your interest rate unless you're paying off the card at the end of the month.

Citibank Dividend Platinum Select: the current card, 5% and 1% as prev. named
AMEX Blue Cash: because it looks cool, rarely use it, thinking of cancelling
Chase PerfectCard: used that one for about a year, first cashback card
MBNA Student Mastercard: first card, highest limit (keep it around for longevity?)

I really only need 1 card, maybe 2. But none of them have balances..

Best card there.
From time to time, they have special offers like 0% balance transfer(more like cash advance) for the life of the balance. Can't beat that.

Yeah, its the main reason why I still keep this card so I can check on my credit score.

Citi Dividend Platinum Select here, too. Gotta love the extra $10 savings on groceries per month.

I have two of these = $600 a year in cashback!

holy crap, are you seroius??? where do you sign up for one of those

There's a $300 cashback limit per year on the card. I already had one and they offered me a second one (why? I have no idea) so I took it. I'll use the first card until I hit the $300 limit then use the other one until that one gets to $300. Then I'll switch to Discover for their piddly rebate.

I see this card advertised in the Sunday paper frequently, but I'm sure you can find an application online at their site citicards.com. It's called Citibank Dividend Platinum Select.

The majority (55%) of Americans have no credit card debt at all, only 29% owe more than $1000 in credit card debt. Thus for many people, that interest rate number is meaningless. Of course, there is the minority that vastly abuse credit cards and make it appear like everyone is carrying a balance.

Me personally, I use the Discover for rewards. I average about 1.25% back with no caps. To me that is better than 5% back on some items with a cap. Consumer Reports ran the numbers a few months ago, and for most types of usage, Discover gave the most money back (even compared to the 5% back cards with caps).

Note: since that article, Discover also started offering 5% back with caps if you want to do it. I haven't run the numbers, but I assume I'm better off with their standard card without caps.
