I was just about to get the g-45 on newegg, but it just changed to "Discontinued" (not sure why). Anyway, there is a gd-45 on amazon, is it exactly the same?

What is the difference between the G series and GD series MSI motherboards?

Welcome to the forum!

Which motherboard are your talking about? The one you state is Discontinued.

gd-45 series look to be s2011 or s1156

G45 is socket lga 1155 or 1150. GD45 is socket 2011 and calls for a more expensive CPU.
What CPU are you using?

Thank you for clarifying this. I am going to get the new i7-4770K, which uses the 1150 socket. The only four G-45 boards on Newegg use the 1155 socket. Their was one with the 1150 socket. I don't know why it was discontinued, it was just released and had great reviews. Looks like I will have to get a different board. Thank you for your help.

EDIT: Would about this, it is socket 1150, but model GD-45? Is it listed wrong? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D12OBEU

Usually they have like Gd-45 then a GD-65 n GD-80, tell us what your looking for in this board or what you need for your build.

I think it's listed wrong. Even MSI doesn't call it GD-45 They only have a GD-65 for s1150 it looks like.

This is the one you were looking at at newegg? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130693

It's just out of stock currently. Not sure why it shows as discontinued. Most likely it'll get restocked.
