especially when you have to drop 15 pounds. I knew having high fat ice cream 4 days a week would eventually catch up to me. :(

I think strict dieting is fairly stupid (probably a stpuid opinion, but hey :p). In my opinion, eat what you want, but also eat healthy stuff. Don't get all stressed out counting calories or carbs or fats or whatever. This just leads to stress in your life.

If you want to lose weight, cut back a little on unhealthy foods but the main thing is exercise more.

I don't plan on just stopping eating one day, that's how diets fail miserably.. When I diet I just kill pretty much all simple carbs and sugars in my diet. Also I cut back on the portions. Every 4 days or so I go off for a day then right back on. I generally can drop 3-5 pounds a week easily. Part of the reason why I stopped working out was I got pretty bored with it, dropping weight was too easy. I guess I'll probably start running a few miles a week again...*sighs*

Still though sugar is addictive and suddenly stopping your intake makes you feel like ****.

You should try the "Eating Healthy Foods" Diet.

It goes very well with the "Get Off Your Fatass and onto a Treadmill" Exercise Plan.

Eat well and exercise > strict dieting (ie: crash weight loss type thing/fad diet etc)

I just started trying to eat more healthily (going from ~0 fruit and veg a day to a slightly more acceptable amount, 2~4 portions a day maybe), and it's easy. Hell, I even found out that eating vegetables makes some meals MORE tasty
And exercise.
Then you get fit + healthy.
TBH, weight doesn't mean a huge amount, if you're packing lots of muscle, you are going to be heavy. If you are packing lots of fat, you are going to be heavy.

Har har I'm still thinner than most people. I wouldn't call even call myslef chubby even 15 pounds heavier. It took me 4 months of tons of food everyday to gain 15 pounds so I have a pretty fast metabolism. :)

That diet seems pretty dumb. Diet looks just silly and unhealthy. You need real solid food protein sources.

You should look into carb-cycling. It was designed by a guy who wanted to lean up pre-competition. 12 weeks out ...

I do believe though that losing weight is 70% diet and 30% exercise.

Carb cycling? You mean varying your carbohydrate intake by days? I like to keep it simple so I use the diet that I mentioned, it's always worked for me. How is that diet plan dumb? There are plenty of methods of loosing weight and all can be effective. A few years ago I used that exact diet and I dropped 60 pounds over 6 months and I was ripped as hell. Not to mention I got 2 inches taller in that period too. I also kept it off for good too.

Protein intake? Not overly concerned about it as I'm not lifing weights right now or even working out yet.

Rather than 'dieting' just cut down on the amount of food you consume every meal. Soon you won't even miss that extra bit you used to eat. I have lost over 6 lbs in the past month with little/no exercise. All I am doing is portion control. BTW I was 176 and am now 170 and continuing to lose weight. I think I'm at a healthy weight at the moment and plan to maintain it.

That's a really hardcore version of a diet that will guarantee you lose pounds crazy quick and retain as much muscle as possible.
I'm going to go for a ride, then come back to drink a beer or two, read your linked diet, and still lose weight. :D

The first week is always the hardest part for me (I'm doing a low-carb diet myself, for what it's worth - I lost 70 pounds in 2001 doing it, over a period of nine months). It gets easier, a little bit anyway. I wish you the best of luck. :)

Agreed.

You need to chnage your LIFE. Don;t just stop eating certain foods or overworking out UNLESS you can do that the rest of your life.

I don;t drink reg soda, eat fast food, etc.. and I do workout 2-5 times a week. That is soemthing I have done for the last 5+ years and will keep doing in part for the rest of my life.

Yeah. 3 types of days, no|low|hi carb. There is no caloric limit.

There are certain musts:
5-6 meals
1g protein per lb body weight minimum (200lb = 200g protein / 5 meals = 40g per meal)
3 cups green veggies / day
can add fish and/or flax oils
Every carb meal must be accompanied by a piece of fruit
Carbs are fibrous only. IE sweet potatoes, brown rice, oats.

OK ... so on no carb days, no carbs, just protein and veggies.
Low carb = 2 carb meals. Not to exceed 200grams total (1g per pound). So 100grams max per meal carbs. 1 carb meal must follow workout.

High carb = 3 carb meals. You can eat as much carbs as you want (from approved sources), but you have to get your protein down first. This day lets you feel sessiated.

As you continue the diet, you can alter according to your body type/metabolism ... N-L-H ... N-N-L-H ... N-L-L-H etc ...

---------------
It looks like your diet plan is 100% liquid protein intake. I try to get 2-3 solid meals out of the 5 I take a day...

I mean, whatever works for you, great ... carb-cycling worked for me :) ...
