I've been traveling a lot so I don't have many food options available except hotel and sub/pizza shops.

I'd like to take some meal-replacement shakes in order to lose a little weight, but I'm very new in this genre and don't know which / how I should take them.

Insights?

Do you actually work out? If not, just get slimfast. Cheaper, and you'll actually lose weight.

Then, drink the damned slimfast...

It's more balanced for your activity than a met-rx type shake.

You know, this Slimfast thing will make an average person so hungry. That he might visit the nearby pizza shop. And it starts.

I'm looking to lose 5-10 pounds.

Metrx and stuff are protein supplements... they're meant for active people. If you don't workout, that protein will turn into fat. It's not a dieting shake like Slimfast

oooh, Boost is actually pretty tasty. And you don't even have to mix it yourself. Buy the cans.

I use Met-rx shakes. Go to GNC between 1-7 of each month and your gold card will get you a 20 pack for $24. That's only $1.20/pack. I have one for breakfast but I take high protein meals throughout the day as well. You may find that boost/slimfast are just as expensive. I don't know though because I don't take them (their protein content is far too low for me).

Slimfast is sugar laden crap. The best protein, mineral combination IMHO is 50% Met-Rx with 50% Whey protein such as Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey. Try to get in a minimum of 5 small meals a day consisting of Protein and fiberous carbs. (green veggies) Drink lots of water and exercise.

I have a blender in my office at work, thus it's easy for me to whip up a shake. You can always make them in the morning and bring them to work in a plastic thermos. Make enough in the morning for 2 servings and pack along some veggies.

Slimfast isn't too bad....just drink it cold and very fast. I usually drink 2 a day between my real meals, I plan to evenatually switch to something along the lines of a Met-Rx shake but I want at least another week in the gym before I do that.
