Diet Coke

I've read that it can cause cancer. Then again, I've read that everything else we ingest can cause cancer...

That's what I'm wondering too... But the amount of danger one can of diet coke poses to me vs the calories in a real coke, I wonder if the calories are worse for me.

Eh, I don't risk it.

Might as well put natural stuff into when I can, I've never seen anyone lose weight from switching from regular pop to diet.

It's still 200 less calories per day per can. That's 10% of your recommended diet cut right there.

There are just under 150 calories in a can of Coca-Cola.

I switched to Diet drinks after reading up a bunch on aspartame and lost 15 pounds in a month. I drink about 4 cans a day. Snopes has some good info on aspartame.

I stopped drinking coke altogether and lost no weight at all. (I replaced it with water and juice).

Did you switch to no-calorie drinks, or other high calorie drinks?

EDIT: Saw your edit. Juice actually has quite a bit of calories in it because all of the sugar they add to it.

What is defined as moderation? I mean, to me, 2 cans a day is excessive, but I'm guessing is still considered "in moderation" by a lot of definitions.

Juice usually has just as many calories as Coke; you are, however, at least getting some vitamins when you drink juice 😛

i remember 60 minutes doing a spot on aspartame and how it causes cancer a while ago.

i think it was called "ASPARTAME: the silent killer."

To be bad, you would have to be plugged 24/7 for a cople of years. Your body already produces aspartame.

A lot of thing can cause cancer. If only you knew, you'd stop living... Just to name some: burned toast or DEET (insect repellent).

Yea.. I remember seeing something on tv about the dangers of grilling over charcoal and how those "black/burnt" marks caused by the grill..etc.. can cause cancer. I doubt anyone is gonna stop barbecuing.

Aspartame/Nutrasweet/Equal..etc.. they have been around for quite awhile no?? You figure if they were dangerous there would be lots of news about it when it comes to cancer..etc.
