Since I drive an SUV, is diesel a better value for gas milage. I hear that they last longer and was wondering about biodiesel. That said I saw that the Yukon was going to be available in a hybrid. I dont think it is currently available as a deisel, but may be in the future.

It will typically get 30% better mileage than a similar petrol vehicle, so yeah, it's kind of worth it. There really aren't any available outside of heavy duty trucks right now though.

Depends

Diesel is a bridge to more efficient engines, but they're a stopgap at best.

Go scrounge up a used diesel Expedition... I know lots of folks that are getting 300K miles on that engine...

You can get turbo diesel Grand Cherokees.

When I drove the Grand Cherokee CRD around DaimlerChrysler's proving grounds in Chelsea, Mich., it delivered as promised. It's ridiculously gutsy from a standing start, even with the relatively heavy Quadra-Drive II four-wheel drive underfoot. It's no surprise, because the engine puts out 376 pounds-feet of torque at 1,600-2,800 rpm, as well as 215 horsepower at 3,800 rpm. What makes this engine stand out, though, is how quiet and smooth it is. It's definitely the most refined diesel engine I've ever driven in a car ? or light truck, as the case may be.

The 3.0-liter V-6, which has been used in the Grand Cherokee overseas, is a Mercedes engine that is arguably the most advanced small diesel made. When you start ? and particularly when you stop ? the engine there's no vibration that shouts "diesel."

matt, you have a bad case of unobtaniumitis, it's characterized by wanting something that could & should exist, but doesn't.

A diesel AWD van would suit your needs, but no one makes one at the moment...

LMAO, I have always had a bit of a rant about what was available in the realm of automobiles. As you said in the past, I probably should get a few different cars. Ideally, I think I should buy a equipment and vehicle rental business, so that I could get all the toys I desire.
