Diesel Grain Alcohol

I was looking through the ABC price list catalog recently to check if they stocked a particular spirt and I ran accross an item called "Diesel". It seems to be a 190 proof grain alcohol similar to everclear but a good bit cheaper.

I've tried googling the subject but I bet you can imagine what kind of hits I get with the search string "diesel grain alcohol".

If anyone has tried it I would be interested in hearing how it tastes and compares to everclear.

To expand on that, I will say that around here, we use it interchangeably with everclear to make purple jesus

In NC it's about $10 for a fifth with Everclear being about $18.

I must admit, cheap jello shots did cross my mind, but I was really thinking about making dirty cheap quality vodka with a several runs through a carbon filter and some good water(reverse osmosis).

diesel burns like no other. You'll have a hard time talking after taking a shot of that.

stay far, far away. 190 proof is 95% by volumn drinking alchohol. The other 5% is the pure essence of foul. Do not ever drink diesel, and never, never, never, never take a shot of it.

i took a shot of everclear while 100% sober once. that sucked.

Yes, but I have a reverse osmosis filter in my kitchen.

I tried some Jamacian Rum the other day - 63% alcohol tremendous hangover but it tasted pretty damn good for the alcohol content.

why? it takes less of this than the 80 proof stuff ot get drunk. typically the same amount of alcohol goes through...

He doesn't know what he's talking about. The damage to your liver is determined by how much ethanol passes through it and I can only imagine to a lesser extent how many impurities in the alcohol you are drinking pass through it.

If you were able to filter the ethanol enough it would probably the best thing for your liver.
