Diehard Intel'r jumping ship to AMD...maybe

I gave up on AMD & VIA in the early Athlon days...too much hassle. With the new XP I'm debating a jump back to AMD, but I'm still leery. Here's what I am proposing:

Abit KG7 (unless I can find a KT266A board quick!)
Athlon 1600XP
Radeon 8500(ships 10/15 according to Dell, Elsa GTS2 until the radeon shows up)
512MB Crucial DDR
Promise ATA100 controller(already have)
SBLive(already have)
WD1394(already have)
Linksys NIC(already have)
OS Win2k

My power supply is a 431W Enermax, so I should be ok. I have downloaded the latest 4in1, and AGP pack and the latest BIOS for the MB. Any tips on setup? I'm assuming the KG7 supports the XP. I am not dead set on this board, so suggestions are appreciated.

I'm kind of leaning toward the Gigabyte GA-7DXR

MWAVE has the new Shuttle AK31A KT266A Rev 3.1 board in stock for a whopping $89.00
The new BIOS posted to Shuttles website, has "AMD XP" support.

Jump in with both feet dude, you won't be sorry and you will be both richer and more enriched for having chosen AMD for your platform IMHO.
