that is one of the most slanted articles...
wow.
Man, that's an understatement.
That's one of the worst attack pieces I've ever read.
The DUI's are irrelevent, he's not being hired as a state trooper or commercial driver etc.
$92K coming from a trade group is spoken of as an (illegal?) campaign contribution from the guy's father. I'm hesitant to take that at face value.
It sure would've been nice if the author of the article allowed the other side to give a response. That's S.O.P., or should be. I'd like to have some confirmation on the hiring process, the required qualificiations and the responsibilities. I'm reluctant to take the authors word for it; he sounds way too butt hurt to trust to be accurate.
Having said that, if the guy got hired as 'payback' I hope somebody gets in truoble. I'd also say I'm not sure Walker would be the guy. He might be, and should share some responsibility if only because he's governor, but I doubt he has time to personally pick every applicant for new positions.
I don't like the immediate raise either. Way too hypocritical for an admin that's trying to cut costs.
Edit: Later saw this:
A month later, Secretary David Ross, a Walker cabinet member, named Deschane the bureau director of board services, a job that paid $64,728 a year.
Not long after, lawmakers approved the governor's plan to convert the Department of Commerce to a public-private hybrid in charge of attracting and retaining businesses, with its regulatory and environmental functions being moved to other agencies.
Commerce Secretary Paul Jadin then appointed Deschane to his new post there to oversee the changes.
Doesn't look like a raise, but rather a new job paying more. Also, and perhaps I'm not fully understanding the above, but it doesn't look like regulating underwater tanks has anything to do with his (new) job responsibilities.
