Gave a friend an old 300A MhZ celeron system ......remember when they were the talk of the town??? so he gets it home and I believe it may have had a problem with his monitor (although I'm not sure) anyway he plugs it in and it starts and runs for a few seconds then the monitor screen started making wierd colors then went black. then he calls me and I had him change the mouse and keyboard and when he went to start it walla it came on for alittle while then went off again, he said he might have mixed up the keyboard and mouse connections and put the plugs in the wrong holes. he brings it back to me and I can't even get it to post, I put the startup disk in and it doesn't even start to read it....no luck with the F8 key either can't get it into safe mode it doesn't want to even light up the keyboard light???? confused......where do I go from here....monitor doesn't even fire up when I turn the machine on geeze it was running great right before I gave it to him. Maybe the video card?......it's an old video card (PCI) any ideas on how to get this thing running? Thanks

Try reseating the processor, memory, video card etc. If was working before moving it and now it doesn?t my guess is something came loose in the move. I still have an old 300A running on a BH6. Every time I move it I have to reseat the processor, the retention bracket never was strong enough to hold the CPU and heat sink securely.

Many thanks slapstick you hit the nail on the head it was the processor, I just lightly pushed down on the top and after restarting up she came 🙂 again thanks

PS That's what I had it riding on also a BH6
