Did you mod your Chieftec power supply?

I know a lot of you bought those chieftec alienware cases recently, and they came with those TurboLink power supplies, which are not bad power supplies, really. I'm using that turbolink psu and it's been stable for my needs.

the only problem I noticed was the noise produced by the fan exhaust in the back. There is no wire grill. It's just circular grating cut out into the psu casing itself.
The way the exhaust vents are cut makes the fan produce a whistling/whining sound.

I'm wondering if anyone has cut out these vents and installed their own wire grill over the hole?
and if so, has that cut down the whining noise?

The whiny noise is from your fan. The grill does cause some noise but it's usually a deeper sound.

Good luck with that turbolink psu. Mine worked for about 6 months and then *POOF*. Random reboots, failing to start at cold boot, general instability. I took it out to replace it with an antec true power 430w and three of the sockets were burned black. I am lucky it didn't take anything in my system out.

mine is going on 10 months.

doesn't your psu push out alot more heat with the lower cfm fans installed?

i think the original psu fans push out 25cfm. what are your nmb fans rated at?

The connector that plugs into the motherboard from the PSU.
