Did you like to enjoy Radiohead before they started sucking?

That's right, suckas! Flame me. But really when Radiohead came out with their first mainstream album (fake plastic trees was my favorite) that was a damn good album. Their next one was OK but not great, and since they've just done way too much chemicals. My brother still enjoys them and jokes that their next album will be a pure white cover with a small black square in one corner and the entire album will be white noise.

I mean what's with these guys all their "music" now sounds to me like a psychopath was taken, given a bunch of acid, then put into shock therapy and then finally put in front of a bunch of physics instruments and just told to fidget.

I was expecting something else when I saw "enjoy, head, sucking" in the same sentence..... I guess I should read the whole thing slowly.

But to answer... Yes, I did enjoy them...a long time ago...

They don't suck, their music is simply above your intellect.

Don't worry, there's plenty of music out there for people like you. Just check out the pop section at your local Sam Goody.

Ah, I'm sure you can do better than that! I don't even need to pretend that I take offense at the fact you say their "music" is above my intellect. Perhaps they've geared their "music" towards space aliens.

Yeah, National Anthem is one of my favorite Radiohead songs. As a matter of fact, Kid A is my favorite album of theirs. Amnesiac was a bit of a letdown, I'll admit.

what's wrong with Kid A? Optimistic, Everything In Its Right Place, Idioteque, Kid A, Morning Bell, National Anthem, are all great tracks. So they're more experimental.. if you like to listen to Old Radiohead... there's always Coldplay.

Amnesiac is a bit more out there, with pulk pull, but along with OK Computer and The Bends, Kid A is one of my fave albums

I liked Radiohead before they became so full of themselves. I love Kid A, but man, they are letting it all go to their heads. They are mainstream artistic. I still like them, I just think they are gradually starting to conform, in a distant, not readily accesible kind of way.

Hmm...let's see...classical music critics hail them as one of the greatest rock bands of the past century, great musicians of all genres from around the globe respect their music, many fine musicians (again, of all genres, and again, from around the world) have done their own transcriptions of their music....

Uh-oh, some guy named "Skoorb" with 18,000 posts on a message board says that their music is dumb, it must be so...

Oh, and I'm sure these "classical music critics" are somehow better judges of music? A bunch of fogies crawl out of their holes long enough to dub the first band they've listen to in the past 100 years to be the best. Pffttt... Next time you talk to these high and mighty critics, tell them I said, "Cram it with walnuts."

I'll be the judge of what I consider the best.

WTF??!!

RADIOHEAD OWNZ J00!!

edit:
seriously guys, Radiohead kicks so much ass that I can't even begin to put it into words. Skoorb, I'm sorry if you just don't get their later stuff (Kid A and Amensiac) they take a couple more listens to begin to apreciate it. I really got into Kid A after the fourth listen.
OK Computer was their best album with Amnesiac coming in second

Radiohead is a good band, but they aren't the end-all-be-all of modern music, as many would have you believe.

I have to say that Radiohead is the best band we have seen since U2 was in their prime in the 80s. You can take any "great" artist, and always find detractors, such is the nature of music. When the biggest selling album is Eminem, then its clear that the "masses" arent the best judges of great music. I think the best proof of great music is the replay-ability years down the road, the fact that younger generations will listen to and enjoy music that for the most part isnt dated.

While the songwriting isnt too amazing, its at least interesting, and not direct like most mainstream music today. Thom Yorke has an amazing voice, comparable in presense to Bono. His voice carries alot of the songs so very well, ignoring the lyrics, his voice is oftentimes the main instrument, and a beautiful instrument it is. While they can rock with guitars with anybody else today, they also bring vibrant sounds to their music. OK Computer was their best "symphony", from Paranoid Android and Let Down to Exit Music and Karma Police, and of course the stark contrast between Climbing Up the Walls and No Suprises, its a wonderful album. Kid A has many great songs, and is really one of the most "complete" albums that has come out in a long time. The album is one long experience, with variations from track to track; but remains one strong mesh of sound. While much more electronica than OK Computer, it is still a well constructed album. Amnesiac is really the B Sides from Kid A, a grouping of extra songs that dont seem to blend as well. Individually they are pretty strong though.

The reason I got into Radiohead was from a recommendation from someone when I had asked for good music to "show off" my speakers. U2 and Radiohead were the "mainstream" pics I most heard. The reason is evident with their work. The songs have wonderful range of instrumentation, pressing all frequencies available. They have a wonderful producer, to put the great work together. Their "sound" is the best in the biz. I think the range of instrumentation helps, because they arent sharing common frequencies too much, but there is just *something* about their mixes that sound great. Ive tried to finger it for sometime, but to no avail. Their really isnt too much channel seperation to create clarity (like the Beatles did), their mixes are pretty much straight mono with small bits pushed hard left and right. No realy panning or phasing.

They simply offer much more than any other band right now, and I cant wait until their next album comes out in the spring.
