despite the impossible task of returning home alive after sending out for a patrol, the dedication and discipline of the german u-boat crew lasted to the very end.

moreoever, germany had some of the most advanced Uboat at that time called the Type XXI which is the ancestor of ALL modern submarine

I would guess sometime during the Somme offensive (that killed 1m if memory serves me correctly)

A LOT more civilians died in WWII than in WWI.
