Did you know? Subway now has more locations in the US than McDonalds.

I found this to be quite interesting. I can remember when Subway initially came to Canada, I thought it was just another sub shop. Who knew that i'd be eating there three times a week and they'd have 16,000+ locations worldwide?

Favorite Subway Sub: Subway Club on Roasted Garlic bread w/ Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions, Green Peppers, Cucumbers, Hot Peppers, Mustard and Vinegar.

Not to mention that the White Chip Macadamia Nut cookies are the best!

Yeah...I was surprised a couple years ago when they said they were 2nd...

but then again, you gotta think that BK and Carl's and Hardee's, etc. have deals not to step on each other's turf...

subway has had more for about 10 years havent' they. it seems like 10 years ago i saw that they had more locations. obviously their locations dont' cost as much and don't gross as much either. their total sales i believe is still way behind mc d's. but hey, they got more locations. :)

Here's the thing though - you can stick a subway in the corner of a gas station for relatively little money, and next to no employees.

The overhead and initial startup costs of a subway are no where near what a "burger" fast food place is, and when you can stick them in every nook and cranny you can find, it's pretty easy to slip under the radar of the bigger franchises.

<< what they need is a gopunk that would eat as many times a day as gopunk posts. :) >>

Ha ha...we should make htat a requirement to keep down the neffing...on a certain day every year, everyone has to eat as many hot dogs as their posts-per-day :)

<< vi

in philly we have a couple of mc dee's in gas stations. i think that is a new market for them. :)
>>

Yeh, I've seen it done too, but it really isn't that easy, especially if the gas station wasn't built with that in mind.

The production area alone of a McDonalds/Burger King is a bigger than the entire production & retail areas of most subways.

I dunno about that, there are some McDonald's Express locations up here that are really tiny...

Yeah, saw it on the news.

I wish they had a few more around where I live though.

Bleh...Subway almost never has anything for 99-cents though...that's the benchmark of a good fast-food place

Corp. Franchises are still popping up, but very slowly. There's a new one not more than four months old near my house.

thats amazing. Subway is one place I just don't enjoy eating at. My wife can whip me up a better sub for a hell of a lot less money. Plus last time I went I found a BIG ASS black hair in my cookie. Haven't been back since.

Good. MCD's is teh suck.
Their burgers seem to be getting smaller, their fries are always cold, and they somehow seem to be slowly putting less and less things on the burgers they already sell. I'm glad someone has passed them. I have just about stopped going to MCD's, and fortunately there is a Wendy's and a BK right near there, both of which have better food.

99 cents is not the mark of a good fast food place.

I'd rather pay $3 for something made fresh than $1 for awful McD's freezer-burned 'meat'

Cheap does not necessarily equal good.
