Yep, it is something we created. Trying to get a Pepperoni Pizza in Europe is next to impossible, since they dont eat Pepperoni there.

Well, that's simply false. Not only can you get Pepperoni in Europe, but you can get it in South America and Africa as well. It just has a different name. Pepperoni is nothing special -- just a dried meat product.

I say we go with the wikipedia.com and just say that it varies from nation to nation, already by itself a variable because of the different meanings it runs by. the exact meat, however... I say Europe did it first.

yes they do, it is called Salami! pepperoni is the samething but normally dried out
salami is so much better anyway especially the expensive stuff, cut really thin

I saw something about this on the History Channel or the Food Network. I believe Americans were the first ones to put pepperoni on pizza, but did not invent pepperoni. I checked several sites regarding the history of pizza, et cetera, but couldn't find information regarding what country did it first.
