Did you hear about the new 40" Sony WEGA TV?

Whoa, it's supposed to weigh somewhere between 250-300lbs!! It's a regular TV, not a projection and will be the biggest such TV in production since Mitsubishi dropped their 40" models.

Cost? $2000 or $2500, can't recall which. It would be nice though. 🙂

I heard that it's not a W it's really \/\/ega (backslash forward slash, backslash, forward slash). If you look at Sony's logo it's most definitely not a W. I wonder how you pronounce it though?

Argh,

Guess I was too subtle...

I was making fun of the thread from before when there were people that were absolutely convinced it was two "V"s. People could not possibly bring themselves to accept that a word spelled "Wega" could be pronounced "Vega".

I thought it was:

\/\/3g4

But then the guy at Circut City told me to keep my |337'tness at the door.

w3rd.

Copy and paste of a rant I posted previously.

For the people insisting it's 2 Vs overlaping, here's some evidence to the contrary:

1) http://www.sel.sony.com/SEL/consumer/wega/ works, http://www.sel.sony.com/SEL/consumer/vvega/ is a 404.

2) At http://www.sel.sony.com/SEL/consumer/wega/products/kv36xbr400.html, the product description is: KV-36XBR400 36" FD Trinitron® Wega? Color Television

3) Search any of the online shops for Wega. Now search for VVega. Note the abundance of results for Wega, and the absense of results for VVega.

I think Sony, if anyone, would know how to correctly spell the name of their products.

Rendus-- Tell me about it!! It's truly bizarre. We've been over this time and time again and people still insist it's "V"s despite a preponderance of evidence to the contrary.

The legend is that long long ago it was vega but the logo was drawn all 3d and fancy like so people said Wega and the name stuck

I was amazed more by the weight than the price. Well, heck for $8000, I can practically buy a theater aspect plasma TV. Screw the Sony!

That's sarcasm, btw.

So, how do you pronouce "Wehrmacht"?

Hmmmm...direct view tubes always have their advantages. If this VVega is an XBR model, and is 16:9, it might be nice for a bedroom or small home theater.

we got a 32" mitsu and that one heavy mofo. cant imagine trying to lift a 250 inch TV without like 4-5 guys doing it at the same time(yes i'm weak. sue me. i play games, not work out)
