Did you have a childhood?

I never had one. My parents worked me to death while I was at home since I was home-schooled. If I was not doing school work, I was either working outside in the garden, helping my dad with construction or some other jobs. When I was 14 they got me my first computer (yay!) from a local computer shop. The owner of the shop was cool and let me come hang out there and learn about computers. When I turned 16 I got a full time job there working and when I was 17 I got a job in Birmingham. I would get up at 5:00, out the door at 5:30 to get to work at 7:00.

If you never had a childhood, what was the reason behind it and do you think you are a better person because of it?

Looking back I am greatful for being pushed so hard in life but I do have regrets for never having fun when I was younger. I am scared that I will have one hell of a mid-life crisis.

the home-schooled part is what really cut into your childhood. did you even get to be around other kids?

I had the best time as a kid. 🙂

although many of you here would disagree; no computer, no cellphone, no cable tv.

I lived on a cul-de-sac in a newly developed neighborhood, so everyone moved in right around the same time my family did. There was at least ten or so families with children ranging in age from a few years older then me to a few years younger, and we all got along very well.

At the end of street was a giant field and beyond that a lake surrounded by forest. Springs and summers were spent in those places, playing cops and robbers or fishing off a log or maybe a game of baseball. We'd ride our bikes around the street in relative safety since cars seldom came on our street.

Winters were fun because the snow plows would pile up the snow in the cul-de-sac, creating prime conditions for snow fortress building and King of the Hill battle royales.

Sounds like my childhood minus the snow.

Newly built cul-de-sac with each family having atleast 2 boys around the same age of everyone. I had a great childhood, had a lot of fun, got it lots of trouble 😀

I live in a rural area so there weren't any kids close by, like in a neighborhood, that i could play with. i had friends but generally only saw them at school or on weekends so most of the time i was by myself. i have a sister but you know how that is, you want nothing to do with her, lol.

most of my time was spent adventuring in the woods pretending i was some kind of warrior or whatever, using sticks as swords and attacking other trees and stuff or once I got older I had BB guns.
thats probably why i have such a huge imagination, because i had to rely on it to keep myself entertained.
i also had a nes and snes so i played those games a good bit too.

my parents didn't have a lot of money either. we never went without things usually, we just didn't have brand name stuff like Nike sneakers.

I had a wonderful childhood. Too many great memories to even say. I was very blessed with a family that gave me the world and i truly appricate what i was given and what i had.
I loved playing barbies in the homemade "mansion" i made with shoe boxes. I loved swimming in our little pool every summer day with my mom. I loved going to Northern Michigan camping with my grandparents.

Life was good and those moments in my younger years made me the person I am today.
