Did you grow up on cold cereal?

This thread makes me wonder if I can still find this:

omg I forgot how much I loved that stuff! Was seriously one of my favorite cereals growing up. It was like crack, it had that "that just" flavor.

There is always a place in my heart for the official Rice Krispies Treats (blue foil packaging) - they have that just right flavor to them that's difficult to capture at home (though I haven't really tried).

If I can ever find that cereal again, I am going through a box real fast. I don't think they make it though.

edit: Actually, looking online it appears they still make it. On the official site they have a packaging shot that matches other current box designs.
I have to get a box. It's been ages.

Never had breakfast at all growing up. (Still did not eat breakfast for >50 years)
Cereal was something I only got at my Grandmothers house, a real treat!

Been enjoying it as late night snack for about 30 years now though, it seems to help me fall asleep, and I like it! Cheerios, Life, Total, & Grape-Nuts mostly.

If it's not oatmeal, it's fucking candy. I can't think of one damned product that is as sweet as kid's cereal that's not 100% sugar. Oh's, CpnCrunk, Pebbles, Loops, Charms... all as sweet as a Snickers bar. Even the "healthy stuff" like Life, Cherios, Kix, all sugar.

I ate cereal for breakfast when I was younger, but I no longer eat breakfast. Sometimes, I'll eat some cereal in the evening, but that's not too common. As for the cereals that I eat, I go from sugary cereals like Cinnamon Toast Crunch to "old people cereal" like Grape Nuts. Mmm I could surely go for a hearty bowl of Grape Nuts right 'bout now.

What, do you like, not eat breakfast then? Or, you grab a banana or whatever and that's it?

I could never do it.

I have to have a solid breakfast every day. It may just be cereal and milk - but it's a large serving (we call it the jethro bull - it's probably 2 or so typical servings - not sure how many "by the box" servings, probably between 3-4).

It's the fastest meal I can whip up - it is either I'm rushing to eat something to hold me over for a bit, or I'm just too damn groggy/too busy hating everything that's not my bed to do anything else.

I'd do eggs and a grain or meat option every morning if I could. If someone else is preparing it for me, I sure as hell do (Army facilities, 99% of the time always have excellent breakfast - other meals, there are no guarantees).
But most days, I just do NOT care to get into that kind of effort.
But I will kill people if I don't have something substantial consumed in the first hour after waking. Typically, it's the first subconscious thing my body and mind starts doing after crawling out of bed.
