I went and had a pretty good time. Fortunately for me, all my dates throughout high school were really hot.

I wasn't going to go because a friend was being a jerk and kept pestering me 5 months in advance and my response to say I'd just skip it. A week before prom, another group of friends came up to me and asked if I'd go with this girl because she didn't have a date; I said sure. Prom was alright, but the after-party was awesome. Looking back, I'm glad I went.

I went, even though I wasn't really planning on it. My friends were pretty set on it, so basically they arranged whatever gets arranged to include me and a date, and then just hassled me until I would go. I think I was more lazy than anything about it, so I'm pretty glad they made me go. My date was basically in the same boat, we were actually going to not go together and just go do something else.

It was worth doing. It wasn't spectacular, nothing even comparable to an average night of college, but I think it's far more important to the girls than it is to us. We had a good time with the rest of our friends in a slightly different setting, and it's just a part of high school to be done. I dunno, tradition isn't bad.

I took a college freshman who attended a state college ~5 hours away. Which kinda sucked, because by the time prom rolled around I was dating a sophomore girl that I went to school with.

So I took someone I had a "casual" relationship with and my girlfriend went with a senior friend.

But that was a long time ago.

Yes, because only absolute losers didn't go to prom. There wouldn't have been anything to do that night except sit on my ass and play video games. I wouldn't say prom was worth the money I paid, but it was fairly fun.

I went 11th and 12th grade, first time in a baby blue suit, second in a tight pink hooters shirt, yellow tutu, tophat, and multicolored plastic lei. I think I have a pic in storage somewhere, I might have to go find that this weekend.

I learned to play the guitar to pick up women (I was not ugly, but VERY shy). I was in the school jazz band, and we got signed to play at the senior prom. The plan was play guitar=get girls!

Well, it backfired. We played until 12:30am, and by that time all the girls left with the guys they were dancing with. I think I ended up helping clean up and went home afterwards.

I used to suck with women :( If it weren't for a co-worker fixing me up on a blind date, I'd still probably be single.

I went my junior and senior year, and to be honest I didn't find it exciting either time. The music was horrible (though I got the DJ to play some Prodigy for me at the end; I was a huge fan at the time) and the food was worse. I had much more fun before and after.

we seem to always have some sort of concert going on in town the weekend of prom. Forgot who it was my senior year, but i think this year it was bon jovi, and some country act last year.

No. Wanted to, but I was severely depressed at the time. Tends to put a dampener on one's social life/ability to get a date.

Prom was a big deal but I did not want to go.
My school was full of assholes and I didnt like spending the school day with them. Certainly did NOT wanna spend my free time with them, especially when I know damn well they'd be acting even more disgusting than usual.

Having said that, if I had a girlfriend at the time or even been able to get a date just for that, I would have gone.
I'd have been miserable but it makes the girl feel special to be there in her nice dress with the corsage. And girls who swear to keep their virginity until marriage often slip on prom night. LOTS of cherries get busted. ;)
(Up until that point most gals just give HJ and BJ. Something about prom night makes them change their minds.)

If the stories I heard the following monday were to be believed, I was right. The guys turned into even bigger assholes and women turned into even bigger bitches.
My understanding is that because of the assholes, the bitches (and bitch-fights) and drunks, the evening turned out to be less than pleasant.

Good.

A harsh reminder to those spoiled fools that life doesnt owe you anything, especially happiness. You have to make it happen for yourself.

I did. I went with a girl as friends, but of course, as soon as I asked from that day on everything was weird b/t us, mainly do to her. She kept sitting beside me at lunch and taking my best friend's seat, and kept acting weird (not in the sense that she had a crush or anything).

Then on the way to the place to eat for pre-prom, we were going to meet her friends there (none of whom I cared for) and I almost wrecked 3 times and then I drove to the restaurant, in which she asked me why we were there. Uh, well that's we were eating....ended up her friends were on the other side of downtown to take pictures, so we sat on a rock for 30 minutes till they came. Meanwhile, as we were sitting there, an art festival was going on so there were people everywhere and I was in a tux and her in her dress. Then when her friends came, we had to kill time before our reservations so we walked around and her friend's feet were hurting then her dress got dirt all on it and she was practically crying.

When we finally got to eat, she spent $60 on food. Finally we got to the actual prom and then it was good because I told her to go dance with whomever and don't ask me to bump and grind b/c I don't want to. So I had a great time talking with my friends, and like an idiot she asked me to dance while a rap song was on she got DEE NIED. It was great. :D

On the plus side, my prom pics were me between 4 girls, since those are who I took everywhere.

Nope. There were two girls who wanted to go with me and I didn't want to make either of them mad so I said I worked that night and couldn't get off and then asked my manager to schedule me for the night. I liked all of the other dances in high school but I didn't want to spend the money at that time to go to this dance.
