Did you find President Bush's inagural address inspiring?

Actually I found it a little scary. Much as I'd like to see the spread of democracy, it can't be done in one president's 8-year reign. Don't push it, Mr. President.

He started Iraq in what, 2 years ago? Still time for Iran and Syria if he finished Iraq.

Fixed.

I found it scary - America is slipping into a dark future if this administration follows through with it's "evil plan to take over the world" - We need an Austin Powers to this Dr. Evil.

some parts were but mostly I think he really doesn't know what is going on in our country. It's time to stop looking at the polls and the surveys, talk to the people who put him in office. Listen to the problems of real people, you know the average person who makes less than $1,000,000,000 a year.
Other than that I cannot say much since he is ny Commander in Cheif.

It was a horrible speech. Look at the transcripts for yourself. Makes you feel bad for the people who actually had to stand around silently for the 20 minute speech to finish.

You don't need a poll to tell you it was a crappy speech; check it out for yourself.

Who the hell says he has to finish it. We never finished Afghanistan! What makes you think we will finish iraq before moving on to Iran or Syria?

No.

Though I will add the value of the CNN poll is completely worthless, and anyone that uses a CNN "quick Poll" as a statistic needs to be shot. When they mean entertainment value, that is literally what it should be taken as.

So does P&N appear to be - based on the current results of the poll:
Yes 9 votes 24.32 (%)
No 28 votes 75.68 (%)

Have you ever thought that maybe the "No" voters are right? That maybe, for once in your life, something isn't about being liberal or conservative? Maybe Bush's speech just was uninspiring?

Of course not, easier to blame the "liberal bias".

before you put on your tinfoil hat you might want to make sure that all sharp objects are put away from you. Who knows what you'll do in your sleep!

Dark future?

had its moments, but as an avid reader i have to say it was pretty lame. the speech writer was supposed to be pretty good, though. but...with all the hollow language and liberal use of the words "liberty" and "freedom" by the end of it, those words became meaningless cliches about nothing. too many abstractions and not enough substance.

More accurately, the public sees the speech for what it was: total fluff.

Eh? I didn't vote for the guy. I supported war in Afghanistan and Iraq and a pragmatic approach to dealing with the West's enemies. I know what's politically viable and what's not, though. President Bush is already seen as a warmonger today without subtly hinting at further campaigns throughout the world - he can only cause damage to his party and conservatives in general by pushing his luck.

Would I support war in Syria with unlimited political capital, resources and manpower? You betcha. But that's just not realistic.

Like this one won't be? :p

**********

I'm sure the speech was inspiring to those who love and embrace freedom. I'm also sure it inspired those who wish to see people freed from oppression and the "shipwreck of communism". It also inspired those of us who believe the most basic yearning of people is to be free.
