did you ever have a movie that felt really applicable to your life?

mine was just "the family man", starring nic cage and a (smokin hot) tea leoni.

in the movie nic cage leaves his GF to go work in london then ends up regretting it a decade later, thanks to don cheadle sending him into an alternate reality where he didn't leave her.

i kind of made a similar decision over a decade ago, still regret it to this day despite doing pretty well career-wise, and this movie punches me right in the feels.

8/10, would recommend. (the movie, not making terrible life decisions)

not really.
in movies the nerd always triumphs over the bully and gets his girl.
that has never happened to me.

In fact thats a serious pile of bullshit hollywood has in general. "Play nice, work hard, look for an opportunity, and eventually everything will work out just fine". I suppose wishful thinking sells better than reality.

Of course, everybody dies horribly in Reservoir Dogs and The Hateful Eight. Those were damn popular too......

I love that movie. Cage at his finest.

I'm a big softie when it comes to family. What's really bizarre is that the movie takes place in north jersey. Back when I first saw it, it was just some fantasy location to me aside from NYC.

Now I live in North jersey and I can relate. The daycare Jack drops off his daughter is shown to be at Teaneck, NJ!

Chef.

I feel like I'm stuck in a loop of doing what I feel is right/most responsible, and will gain me the most respect. I reality, the corporate career I have does not really mesh with my personality, and I'd be much happier running a coffee shop. Don't get me wrong, I'm good at my job...I just have a hard time having any passion for it. It makes it difficult to roll out of bed in the morning some days.

That, and I'd also like to repair my marriage with Sofia Vergara.
