For fun, I downloaded a few WAV files (from AOL) that were about 3-4 megs circa 1995 :):eek:

Yes, they sounded horrible, these were compressed down to 1/10 of what they should be. But it was intersting at the time to have whole song on my hard disk.

i had real audio stuff as well, i also know what your'e talkign about with the mega low quality wav files!!

Not really....I didn't download much of anything on my 56k.

I had mp3s well before I got broadband and started downloading.

Now i remember listenign to *.VOC files on my 386, I didn't even have 16bit sound card, I had an 8bit PC speaker with a Soundblaster emulator, ouch :eek:

Nah, I got into MP3s right around when they started getting popular around the web (before anyone else really caught on pretty much). Back when I had like 10 MP3s and it was pretty cool just to get free singles :D

I had a few .mod files on my old 386 hehe, at the time I thought they sounded decent coming out of my pc speaker, this was back in 1992.

I dled the whole Bone Thugs album in real audio format, I thought that was so cool. And I had a whole bunch of midis too. I miss the good ol' days.

I had a stack of MIDI floppies.
Also a bunch of .mods

so yeah, I downloaded music before MP3s :)
