Did Wire Trick, posted @2400 using 1.85v but fails Prime95, any suggestions for stability?

P4B266-C with wire trick has default core voltage @1.70v (more like 1.77v in MBM).

I was running stable before the wire trick @2133 w/1.60v core, 2.5-2-2-6 Memory settings.
Ran Prime95 for hours without single failure, but when run simultaneously with 3DMark2001, Prime95 would report failure sometimes. I dunno if this failure matters much in the "real world".

I've posted @2400 using 1.85v core voltage. I probably need better memory (CAS2), have Micron CAS2.5 right now. I just started using Arctic Silver 3, boy that worked well! Under FULL LOAD, I am maxxing out at 38 degrees C. I'm idling @ 21 degrees C using Retail HS.

I am still experiencing the COLD BOOT problem even with the wire trick @1.70v default. Does that mean that I should do default @1.8v maybe?

Any other suggestions would be great!

first of all....Do not run this at 1.85v...stick with the 2.133ghz and 1.7v max...3dmark has issues of its own...run some other test and don't put too much stock in one program....

Be happy with 133fsb cause that seems like your best bet...they all can't be gems...

Secondly...I call major bs on the temperatures...that board must be f^cked up...No way at 1.7v (1.77v actual) that thing is running with retail hsf at 21c which is lower then average room temperature...21c is 69.8f...my system temps run 22c normal but processor at 1.65v runs 36c idle and 45 max...

He could be like my friend who keeps the temp in his house at 60F (~15C, I wear a coat inside........:)), the spread he represents from idle to full load (17C) looks like about the same most people are getting with it.

Duvie, do you use MBM to check voltages and temps? What is your voltage at full load?

I use asus probe....ofcoure it only seems to be good once the chip reaches a temp above 40c....

In bios after 10 minutes I took the temp as being 36.5c....in windows it will say 40c....bios reads about 1.56v and in windows it will read 1.66v (due to asus ven1 jumper adding more voltage to default...asus's built in wire trick)...system temp in bios and asus reads about 21-22c...

During full load in prime95 or now running dvd-divx encoding in gknot...

highest ever seen cpu = 45c
highest ever seen system = 26c
volatge = 1.62v -1.64v

Duvie:

I live in Canada. We keep it cold in the house. Temp is around 13 to 15 degrees C :)

And let me correct myself, I'm idling at 24 degrees C.

damn that is cold...I like a cold house to 66-68f, but my wife would disown me or keep touching me with those freezing paws late at night...

that is like running a vapochill....

With temps being out of the realm of limitations I would say power is the issue and likely the limitation

memory is likely not it...turn down ratio to 1:1 and they will be running at 300mhz and most all micron will do that in its sleep...Do you have voltage mod for ddr???

Duvie:

I have an option on my P4B266-C that allows me to "over-volt" DDR memory voltage from 2.5v to 2.6v or 2.7v.

Should I try 2.7v?
