Did Western Digital just reduce the warranty from 3 to 1 years on retail SE Drives?

The new warranty policy says its in effect on 1 Oct 2003. It APPEARS that a Bare SE drive has a 3 year warranty while a Retail one has a 1 year warranty. Can someone verify if I'm reading this right and isn't this a change?

looks like it on that site not sure why the barte drive would have a longer warrenty than retail though weird...
 
But after your one year runs out, for $14.95 you can get two more years. Sounds like that would be worth it to me.

yup i remember reading about it a couple weeks ago (it was in the new section on the anandtech main page)

only the SE, OEM drives still have 3 yr
