did this update *REALLY* install correctly? if so, why didn't it update these files here

i installed http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928595
i confirmed there were no significant failed items in the updates log file, except for supposedly minor things like

Known failure, see Non-Error Log Entries. This package does not contain HAL files, and since installation continues this is not a true error.

i note the file versions in C:\WINDOWS\AppPatch are less than 5.1.2600.3072
EG: acspecfc.dll version is 5.1.2600.1904 and not 3072

however, i note the correct versions were installed, but they are in here
C:\WINDOWS\$hf_mig$\KB928595-v5\SP2QFE and SP2GDR

so whats going on here? is this behavior correct and the update is probably installed ok?

it appears this behavior is correct.

the file versions are 3163 in AppPatch *only after* SP2 is installed. These versions are the same as the files in C:\WINDOWS\$hf_mig$\KB928595-v5
