Did this Thermalright Monster HSF Ever Get Produced?

seriously tho... i dont think so... it looks like a passive sink type, and Thermalright has better passive sinks then that.

jeez it looks like it's made to be bolted to the door of the case. I guess you hook it to your dryer vent and pipe the hot air outside the house? Could probably save 10 bucks a year just doing that. And if you locate the fan really far away you can have silence and performance... Oh I know what to do: hook it to my chimney. Convection will do all the work so I wont even need a fan.

Those fins look way too close to be of much use. Looks like someone just stacked a bunch of washers.

The SpinQ VT seems like it could fit directly within that LHC Higgs Boson apparatus. I agree that the fins do look far too close. Maybe that's why it was only seen at Computex 09 and never again.

TR has been very scientific about their cooler designs; they had a string of them for a few years that always had near-lowest thermal resistance for heatpipe coolers -- always out in front, or second-place.

And I'd spoken directly with their tech people -- either over the phone or via e-mail.

So it seems hard for me to believe that they came up with a design that "didn't work" to put it on display at a computer expo.

Who knows, though? We'll probably never find out, if those things were never released . . .

I can just imagine someone finishing a build with this heatsink in their system. They turn their case so it's standing upright. They stand back looking at their work of art and say to themselves "Yeah, this is sweet". Two seconds later they hear a cracking sound followed by the heatsink falling off with the CPU and part of the motherboard still attached.

Looks horrible. The closest I've seen is a heatsink by Thermaltake, the SpinQ, but it just looks so much cooler than this.

That's the ugliest thing i have ever seen in my life heatsink wise.

Not even a led and some black paint can save this one...poor setup looks like its on life support with that big boy.

Gotta wonder what in gods name that thing is cooling.

there is not a known heatsink company that is would risk going out of business over not testing their heatsinks to make sure that they will not ruin a motherboard!
