Did the White House really threaten military occupation if the bailout failed?

The implications in that kind of threat are very grave indeed. How can anyone still support these people? Why isn't Bush's approval rating in the single digits?

What would you do if the US military began an occupation of US soil?

Umm... you're about a week and a half too late:

For the first time ever, the US military is deploying an active duty regular Army combat unit for full-time use inside the United States to deal with emergencies, including potential civil unrest.

Beginning on October 1, the First Brigade Combat Team of the Third Division will be placed under the command of US Army North, the Army?s component of the Pentagon?s Northern Command (NorthCom), which was created in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks with the stated mission of defending the US ?homeland? and aiding federal, state and local authorities.

This due to some states' National Guard (which would normally deal with disasters / substantial civil unrest) units being occupied overseas and lacking sufficient numbers in their home states to contain possible emergencies and thus the feds are using regular army troops to fill their ranks?

So Bush is preparing for an occupation while he's buying his new house in Dallas and writing executive orders for the upcoming Presidential transition? OK!

What did he plan to occupy, and what troops was he going to use, exactly? The 200k that are in the middle east?

The man is tired. All he wants to do is disappear, the way Truman and Johnson did.

I don't like Bush, so something negative about him must be true and looked at from the absolute worst angle!
