It is the only movie I have ever fell asleep watching in the theater.

Woke up after whsat seemed like a 3 hour nap and the movie was still going on.

Yeah, it's not a new movie, but I was thinking about it today and I can honestly say I haven't fallen asleep like that watching any other movie in the movie theater.

The cinematograhpy was great. The movie, however, lacked direction/consistent plot. It really needed an ending. Too many well-known actors. They threw in George Clooney at the end for no good reason.

yeah to me it seemed like it was trying to be an "amazing" movie, but forgot some of the basics

There really needs to be a few good movies made about the Pacific war now, with the technology they have.

Yes. Just when I thought and hoped it was over, it went on for what felt like another hour.

I remember watching Saving Private Ryan in theaters then going to see The Thin Red Line. Me and my dad snoozed through the entire movie.

The casting in that movie was all screwed up. Having John Travolta as the senior commander over Nick Nolte made the movie seem very odd right off the bat.

'The New World', which is by the same director, is the same way. A lot of long, silent shots of just nature.

The only movie I have fallen asleep to was Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Gawd that movie was so boring.
I never sleeped to even the boringest of movies/shows, but it just had to be that one. One I really wanted to watch.

I'm a fan of war movies in general, but TTRL wasn't very good. It was, however, much better than the crap otherwise known as Windtalkers.

I disagree.

It was done intentionally to show how Nick Nolte's character was older and bitter at being passed over for promotions.

As for all casting yeah, I read on wikipedia that it was supposed to have a bunch more people including Billy Bob Thorton, and it was supposed to be even longer.

I liked the movie.
