I was watching good morning america this morning. They interviewed this guy who drank Silver Chloride solution because he felt it gave him health benefits. When a zoom version of his face came on my HD TV It scared the shit out of me..... The Silver as many of you guess makes his body and tissues turn blue.

Yeah but I had an HD TV and when his face poped up I thought someone was in my house. I nearly choked on my Honey Bunches of Oats.

Silver Chloride != Colloidal silver.

He is not drinking silver chloride. That would be even more stupid than drinking colloidal silver until your skin turned blue.

"Fourteen years ago, Karason developed a bad case of dermatitis, which results in swollen, reddened and itchy skin. He started self-medicating, using a treatment called colloidal silver, which is made by extracting silver from metal."

Yeah. He's not drinking silver chloride, he's drinking colloidal silver.

Silver chloride does not readily dissolve in water, it wouldn't really be something that you would ingest. It's a metal salt, a solid.

Yeah, but when the Silver solution enters the body it will start to turn to other weird compounds?

HCL = Stomach Acid

Ag + HCL = AgCL + H (gas)

So you have Silver chloride with god only knows other compounds.

Well, true. But he's still not drinking it. :p lol

It's actually Ag + HCL = AgCL + H2. ;)

Yeah that's because Hydrogen gas is diatomic

but with a properly balanced equation it should be.

2Ag + 2HCL --> <-- 2AgCL +H2

And I believe it may be an Equilibrium reaction (--> <--) since the changes in presures, tempertures and concentrations in HCL solution in the stomach along with other elements will throw it in and out of AgCL and Ag.

Other elements such as Cu, Fe, Ca. Will probably have higher priority or in this case bioavailability to the HCL since Ag is the hardest on the pecking order for single replacment reactions with HCL. In other words it's easiest for HCL to eat Cu, Fe and Ca first....

I have used colloidal silver to help cure strep throat. It seemed to work pretty well. I didn't turn blue. Methinks he probably over did it.

Oops - Sorry about the double post. He probably took twice too much.

To say the least.

I've also had success with colloidal silver and throat infections.

There's no doubt that its germicidal, but its certainly not a "cure all".
