Did the 1/4 mile on my bike!

Best time was 12.87 @ 103.7mph. "pro rider" times are around 12.2s, and pro drag racers would obviously be faster than that.

it was a lot of fun, and there were a lot of cool guys there. mostly 1000-1400cc bikes with lengthened swingarms running 9's and 8's (as you can see in a couple of races where i get blown away 😀 but it's all bracket racing)

Nice. I think my sv is in the same ball park speed/time wise.

My biggest fear is the wheelie..

just dont launch at too high an rpm, and you can always clutch, brake, or reduce throttle input.

it's actually not quite as scary as i thought it'd be.

now on an R6, R1, or equivalent...then i'd shat myself for sure 😀

Is it normal to let of the throttle to shift? On my bike I just put some up pressure on the shift lever and it slams into the next gear when I hit the rev limiter.

Nice runs, and pretty good times.

depends my bike has a lot of torque, is a v-twin, doing that gives the transmission a solid THUNK with the inertial dump...doesn't sound or feel good.

I think if it feels OK on your bike it's probably fine. I just let off the throttle for a split second that's all.

power shifting is definitely faster than using the clutch. i've never tried it before, so i may definitely do it next time!

the super powered bikes..busas, ZX14s, etc. sometimes use pneumatic shifters. the one guy i was talking to (had a ZX-14R) said his air shifter is coupled to a power commander that kills the throttle for a split second to complete the shift. all he has to do is press his horn to shift. pretty awesome 😀 other bikes have clutches that will progressively engage because they simply have so much power that it's impractical to handle via a traditional clutch (like a 600hp turbo busa running nitrous). one guy who was running was rebuilding his clutch after every ride - he was putting down so much power that he was removing 0.02" of material from the clutch every time. insane!!!!

Really cool. Just crazy how fast the race bikes close on you. Not a shot at you...just saying how quick an 8/9 second bike is.
Oh, and here, you'll be needing this soon....🙂

So long as you had fun!

I read "bike" in your thread title, and immediately thought of this! :awe:

i was worried i might do that :awe:

I don't know anything about bikes, but is that pretty tame compared to an R6 or equivalent?

yeah my bike is much more tame than a supersport. the FZ6R uses the 2003 R6 engine and then is tuned for low/mid-range torque...not much high end.

for comparison:

I've only done it once or twice since I don't race, it's a hell of a rush when second gear grabs though.

I run a V-twin as well.

Since its an FZR, try clutchless next time. Slight pressure on the shifter and a a quick slight backout of throttle.

Wow... I would have thought you would be a hair faster... Believe it or not, my Spyder runs about the same time and speed in the 1/4. High 12's, very low 13's.
