the one about the beer and stripes? that answer was something about how they were putting on a play

i never heard the result to the car crash one though
 
Yes, as others have said it was a play, but someone suggested that it was a tv show and he decided that wasn't the right answer even though the same reasoning applied to that answer and it should have counted as winning imo.

He should've at least given the guy $20 for creative thinking and coming up with another possible solution to the riddle.

Yes, the official answer was that it was a play, but he never explained why the dozens of other answers people gave were any less correct.
