Did something to my knee, anyone want to guess what is wrong?

Okay, around 6:45pm PST, I was at my soccer practice, rushed in to make a block tackle, the guy on the other end was bigger and stronger, the ball didn't go anywhere, but I did..

For the first 5 seconds all I knew is that I was in pain, I wasn't paying attention to anything else. At the moment, I didn't even know what was in pain, a message from my brain was just, "You hurt yourself again idiot." So, I'm on the ground for 5 seconds.. 15 seconds later I'm able to get up and walk off limping. No help needed. I think that's a good sign, nothing too big. If anything..

So, yeah, on my right leg, right next to the knee cap, there is this little ridge, and on one side of the ridge, if you poke it, it hurts. Not much, just like someone touching a bruise. And it kind of hurts to walk too..

Does anyone think this could really be a huge problem and I could have screwed up my knee. My coach said I should be lucky I'm 14 and basically, we bounce at this age. We break a bone, 2 months later, we're back good as new.. Anyways, anyone want to tell me what might have happend? It feels like a bruise (sp), but I'm not sure.

I guess you knocked your knee against his or you landed pretty awkwardly. I got that once when I fell hard on the hard floor while playing street soccer. Let me guess, it's pain as hell when you just touch it mildly?? If so, I guess you fracture something on the knee. Nothing big because you're still walking. Take a breather from playing soccer. It'll heal.

My pain went away after 3-4 weeks. Rub some ointment if you would. 🙂

can you extend and bend your leg 100% without any pain?

how about twisting it as far as the other leg and put strain on it?

if either hurt you may have torn your ACL, and this would not be good.

That does not mean much, in 12th grade I tore my ACL in a football game got up walked off the field went back in for 4 more plays...., but yes it is a good sign and I hope your OK

RICE therapy: rest, ice, compression, elevation. You can add an antiinflammatory/analgesic for good measure (aspirin, ibuprofen, naprosyn). If it doesn't resolve within a few days you should probably see your family doctor. Your description is too limited for a diagnosis; but your differential would include anterior cruciate, medial collateral, lateral collateral ligament tears, mensicus cartilage tear, tibia or patella fracture . . . but it is probably just a bruise.

I hope it isn't my ACL.. Do you have to get surgery if it is? Or will it just heal on its own if you leave it alone for a while?

I didn't connect knees with the guy, my foot one part of the ball, the other guys foot hit the other part of the ball, and boom 🙁 I didn't hear any snap, cracks or pops. I can fully extend my leg without any pain.. I dunno about that turning thing, it only hurts when my foot is past a 90 degree angle.

<< It's best that you go see a physio before any permanent damage is done dude. It'll only ruin your life. >>

Yep, visit the shrink man. Get it taken care of.

Don't take chances with your health -- particularly at your age. Those knees have to last you for a few more decades. I'd take it easy for a couple of days (i.e. not participate in soccer), and then head for the doctor if the pain and swelling has not subsided.

Good Luck!
