Being the lazy idiot that I am, upon leaving work, I placed my laptop into 'standby' mode, and drove home. Upon returning home last night I did... nothing with it. The laptop was left in the car in sub-freezing weather.

Now that I am at work again, the laptop's power adapter is showing a light, but the laptop recognizes nothing when I plug the power adapter into it. I've tried all of the usual 'disconnect, reconnect, tap on the bottom, wiggle the plug' type fixes that I could think of, but nothing seems to be working.

Does anyone have a 'best case/worst case' scenario of what may have happened, what it would cost to fix (off warranty) and whether it might just fix itself?

Let it warm up a bit, remove battery, remove plug, reinstall battery, reinstall plug...

...

and now it's working. Thank your favorite deity for me.

I have been told the Dell laptops can withstand the sub zero temperatures. That is why the state of Alaska only buys Dell laptops.

Aren't you the same person that was claiming that Dell makes the best notebooks around as per what some stupid IT guy you know said?

I dropped my Dell notebook in the magma pool in my backyard by accident and it still works.

But wait, if you call now Dell will send you not one, but two amazing laptops for the low low price of one.

And for the first 10 callers we'll include this handy life alert gizmo. No more "I've fallen and can't get up" with no one hearing you. Dell will save your life.

My Dell cheers me up when I'm feeling down and also can grill my steak.

(seriously though, my Dell notebook has been very good to me :))
