Did something happen on Steam?

Can't say I've run into that issue, but I have had something else strange happen. Left 4 Dead 2 is being shared to me, but I don't have it installed. Suddenly, Left 4 Dead 2 Add-on Service has started appearing in the list of recent games when you click on the tray icon. A clean install of the Steam client cleared things up, but it came right back when I set up Sharing again. And it always comes back to the top of that list which is annoying. If I click on it, it prompts me to install but errors out with Invalid Install Path.
 
last time something like this happened it had to do with steam family library sharing.

they probably did a patch on family sharing.
 
It's a VC update. I've been playing the stutter lagfest that is FF13 (I'm reserving my review of it until I'm done, but wow, this is the worst FF by a far stretch so far) and it actually improved it making it play smoother.

I have auto update disabled due to ISP limitations so I'll update when I want to fire up a game.
 
i dont know which game did it but a couple months ago some game dumped visual c files all over my d drive without putting them in a folder...
