Did something change in win7 winupdate for drivers?

I'm about to to install win 7. To make things short, I'm looking around for p45 chipset drivers but people are suggesting to get all my drivers using windows update; am I missing something?

Is windows update reliable for driver updates now? I always manually uninstalled/updated my device drivers.

WU has provided HCL certified drivers since XP

I installed windows 7 and it detected everything...i was like you and went to install my mobo drivers from the cd...screwed everything up. Installed windows again and left alone and all is well.
