Did Some Mods steal personal computer info???

One of my friends told me that even if he formated his hard disk many times and register a new account, he was still be forbidden/banned. So he double Mods Trespassed his privacy and get his personal info and will sue Anandtech. I just want to know is this real??? If it is true, that's terrible!!!
