Did search, nothing exciting came up. Now, how do I enable the built in fax in W2k???

Title says it all, tried the help-guide that tells me to install it from the Win2k cd but nope, cant get it to work. Is it under another setting/name than fax? I don't use modem, I run ADSL, does that make it impossible? I used to have fax in my Printer-map along with my epson before (the installment before this one) but not this time around.
Anyone knows?

I'm not sure but it may be on the install cd and not get installed be default

I have installed absolutely everything that is possible from the cd. Nope... Still no remedy.

I am not totally sure on this but I think the fax function might not be enabled unless you have a fax device attached to your PC.

I buy that reason, but I'd love to get a confirm on that tho' and preferably why + ways around it.
I dont have a faxmodem, only ADSL...

I need some fax-function and was eager to see if the built in app would suffice, and you stated that you weren't aware whether it would work or not. So, the questions remain:
1. is it possible to fax when having ADSL only, no fax-modem
2. would the win2k fax app work this out, if so how do I enable the thing
3. what would make it happen if the win2k app doesnt (looking for a freebie here guys & gals).

1. yes, but only through email services that allow it. ie: e-fax.

Win2k fax app will only be installed if you install a fax capable modem.

i think that is the website. They offer a free service that allows you to receive faxes, but charge to send them.


For free fax apps try www.nonags.com or www.moochers.com

Thx I-wood, Ill do some search. Aint critical, wont be sending many faxes... Just for the sake of it really.
