Palin was married August 29th, 1988. Track is currently 19 yrs old. By my math, he would need to have turned 19 within the last 3 months for it to be a marriage that was not "out-of-wedlock".
Why is this important? It is important because we have a social conservative VP nominee chosen by a presidential nominee with problems in social conservative circles. If elected, the social conservative base will need to be rewarded with policies they believe in - like elimination of sexual education for abstinence programs, elimination of availability to contraceptives for young people and an assault on abortion. And if that happens, the result will be what you see in Palin's family - young girls who do not have options, who get knocked up when unmarried and are forced to marry and have children. Now in Palin's case, it seems to have worked out not too badly for the mother, but for thousands and thousands of girls, the result is loss of educational opportunities, being locked into relationships much too young and poverty.
