Did ruin my cook?

Left an instant read thermometer in apork shoulder I was smoking for about half an hour. The thermometer is deformed but still intact. Battery still works. Worried about any outgassing issues that may make this unfit for human consumption. Smoker temp was about 225 during the time smoked that thermometer. .....sigh..... pork looks good too....

I agree with zane. I once continued to smoke and devour a shoulder after one of the coolant packs ruptured into the brine the night before.

meh. whatever poisoning/cancer/death happens, it will be worth it.

No, you did not ruin, poison or, degrade the meat, at least from leaving the thermometer in it. Buy a new thermometer and enjoy the meat. For the future, consider leaving the cooking to professionals.
