Did Pepboys mount my new tires incorrectly?

Shawn

So went to Pep Boys right before they closed. Just got the car back and drove it home and inspected the tires after i got home. I don't remember seeing a lip on the rims before. It looks like either the tires weren't mounted correctly or they don't fit. They are 215/50R17.

Thoughts? Can't bring it back today have to wait till tomorrow. Safe to drive on?

The design of the sidewall varies with different tires. Your old tires probably had some sort of "rim protector" feature which is basically extra rubber that comes past the edge/lip of the wheel.

EDIT: I was about to joke that if you would've splurged for non-Chinese tires it wouldn't be a problem until I looked and found out Vogue is an American company! 😛

And they charge extra for tires with that feature.

Vogue is headquartered in Chicago. Their tires are made by Sailun Tyre Company in Qingdao, China.

A tire I would avoid. Actually, anything Pepboys sells or does should automatically be avoided.

Oh boy. Check the tire pressure. That says 50 PSI max and most fill it to 50. Tires are usually in the 30's. Check your placard on your car door/glove/where-ever and yes avoid Chinese tires in the future. Stick to American or Japanese made in either country. If you are on a budget Korean is ok again if made in USA or Japan.
