My belief is he is dead...
I think the president let it slip when he said he didn't care about bin laden anymore.
If he were alive, he would be releasing more memos, videos, tapes...provide real proof he is alive.
The powers that be want Americans and the rest of the world to think he is alive so that we keep the wars going.

I don't know, the fact that the man behind the actual terrorist attacks on 9/11 still hasn't been brought to justice has got to be hurting Bush more than keeping the war going is helping.
Sure, but this isn't a good long term strategy. It held through the 2004 election, but a year later he'd probably lose if the election was now. Of course he doesn't care, he's already elected, but he might end up dragging down the rest of his party with him. In fact, you can tell they realize this. They are actually starting to break their lockstep with Bush sometimes. Could you have imagined them doing this before 2004?
As to the SC picks, I personally think he's getting them through because he picked pretty qualified people. He tried his usual cronyism, and he got shot down by both the left AND the right.
I read a book called "Special Forces in Afghanistan", which gives a chronological account of our Special Operations Forces (Army Special Forces, Rangers, Navy SEALs, and Air Force Special Tactics Squads) from the initial invasion to Operation Anaconda. According to the author and several SF operators (American and European), he slipped away from Tora Bora and was closely pursued by SFs and SEALs, but was allowed to cross the border into Pakistan by Eastern Alliance fighters.
Apparently there were two rival Eastern Alliance commanders involved in the operation; one was to assault Tora Bora with our guys, the other was to guard the border and prevent Al Qaeda from escaping. The two argued over who got to attack Tora Bora, and the one that ended up on the border was pissed off and he and/or his men accepted money to let OBL cross. Our SFs were furious, almost came to blows with the EA pickets, and complained bitterly to command about what had happened. Of course, the whole thing was sort of swept under the rug, the only result being that next time (Operation Anaconda), we used US and European SF troops as the blocking force rather than or alongside our indigenous allies.
When half the governments in the world are looking for you, it's only a matter of time. I think they killed him. All we hear from now is his windbag Zawahiri.
Personally, I think many of the tapes and audio that have been released were pre-taped in responce to different situations and things happening, so they'd have something to release if something did happen. I'm not saying I think he's dead, however, I just think some of the tapes he releases are very vague about things happening.
Wasn't there a video released around the time of the elections? OBL looked (in the video) to be rather aged.
