Did my new Asus p5wd2-e premium die?

After several hours and hundreds of dollars, I finally get my dream PC up and running. I'm 4 hours into the patching and installing drivers when all of a sudden during a reboot, my system powers down. It will not power back on. I figure maybe its a heat issue and let things sit for a bit. But it will not power back on at all! I test another power supply and it does the same thing - couple of lights turn on for a half of a second then it shuts back down. I disconnect all the non-essentials and it still wont power on, even after cmos reset. I didnt do any overclocking.

so, does this sound like a motherboard failure?? Could something that is connected to the mobo cause the mobo to do this? if its a heat issue, i would think it would have a protection feature that powers down teh mobo until its cooled down?

thanks for all the replies everyone!! 😀

for those that have a similar problem, try this i think it might have fixed my issue:

this from the intel.com site (Thanks Intel, you rule!):

-------------

Motherboard will not power up
If the motherboard won't power up, or the fan turns on for one second then shuts down, ensure you are using a momentary switch for the sleep/resume feature. The result may be the board getting stuck in sleep mode. Use the correct type of switch and remove the battery for 20 minutes to clear the flip-flop that controls sleep mode.

I did this and tested the mobo and it did power up, i havent reinstalled everything yet but atleast i got further than normal. this may have been because of software installed during the setup of my pc, i installed some motherboard software stuff and also some software for my monitor (gateway 21" widescreen hd lcd).
