My Proview PS-715 went PPPSSSSSSSHHH and lots of smoke came out the top(while I was surfing). Tried to turn it back on but it just kept makin the clicking noise it makes when I turn it off and on but to a greater degree. It's 3 years old to my knowledge and wouldnt you know thats when the warranty is up I had it plugged into a cheap surge bar(i guess u call them that)with all other plug ins occupied...I wonder if that was unhealthy for it...I mean, there supposed to last longer than 3 years right?

If its dead does anybody have any suggestions on a new one? Another 17" one would do $200 US or maybe more as long as its easy on the eyes. It will be for my spare PC that my friends use so I dont know if I want it to outdo my Iiyama VisionMaster Pro410 for some reason(guess I could just swap them out if it happens). Still I want it easy on the eyes.

monitors can last along time, sounds like this one took a dive though. Id look into a viewsonic, i have the a70f+ with 2 modes for brightness(normal & ultra bright) 17" pure flat...its nice.
