Did my hard disk just die?

Hello all,

I own a Toshiba Tecra 8200 for my laptop. About two days ago, it started acting up. IE would take a long time to load. Then it would just refuse to come out of sleep mode, and the HD light would be on solid. Now it just won't boot (blue screen). When I boot from the XP CD and run the recovery console I can't even get it to give me a directory of C:\. It can't get any files either.

Does this mean that my hard drive just to a really hard and fast crash?

Is there any hope of rehabilitation the hard drive. The data on it is not really important, but laptop drives are expensive!

Thanks,
Swan

your memory could being going bad. i had this happen with my uncle's laptop. i never got to fix it because i was busy.

you can always run memtest86. but to save your files, you can try to ghost it to an external drive.
