If a hybrid evo comes out and is just as fast as todays car with KERS It would be enough to keep the image.

Where is it?

lol, I looked up Galant 2012. It HASN'T BEEN redesigned since 2004. Look at the pics LOL, looks so outdated.

They've discontinued Eclipse last year, as with Galant. WTF? What are their corp office & factory workers doing every day?
Pretty much this.

I had a Galant for a rental last year. It only had a couple thousand miles on it but honestly the Malibu and Milan I had as rentals within the past 2 years were FAR superior in every way.

I understand us gearheads being excited about stuff like the Evo (and STI, ZR1, GT-R, etc), but to the manufacturers these are 'image' cars that either lose money, or make very little.

Mass-market vehicles are what keeps a company afloat, and Mitsu has been sinking in that department for a long time now. Their stuff was barely competitive enough to be in the rental market, and I never thought I'd say this, but even Dodge cars are better than DSMs now for that use, so I think they're probably about to end US distribution entirely. They also don't have bikes to fall back on, like Suzuki does.

Besides the low-volume Evo, their line-up is garbage. Good riddance; maybe a different company would sell the Evo for them in the NA market and we all win.

Mitsubishit is one of the worst brands out there. I can't believe they still have any presence in north america. Like suzuki, I see damn few of them around. I can't even think of a local dealership. For me I think the brand became a total joke maybe 7-8 years ago when I remember it was possible to buy a car in january from some dealerships and not make any payments until the end of the year. It literally was like saying our cars are such sh*t that the only way we can move these off lots is to frankly not make you even pay for them.

The EVO is an irrelevant car from a sales number. I see hardly any.

The funny part about Mitsu is that they wont even discount the Evo X's at all to move them. They pretty much told me MSRP or nothing.

That is actually true. The Spyder was the car that had the most potential for them (with roadsters being so popular now), but they didn't even try making it the best at anything. Best handling? No. Best speed? No. Best acceleration? No. Best gas mileage? No. Best reliability? No. Best interior? No. Best leg room? No.

How about "Fastest time to take the hood down?" The guy that suggested that got fired.

I'm told that the chassis of the Spyder is extremely capable and easy to modify, making it a good base for a kit car, so the potential was there. It's a shame that Mitsu couldn't do anything to make itself stand out from the crowd. Just goes to show when you say "good enough," it usually isn't.
