Did I screw something up?

In my quest to improve the responsiveness of my Windows 2000 system, I changed the pagefile size. Originally, it was at 768 MB. I changed it to 256 MB, hoping to force more of the OS into system memory to reduce my hard drive activity. When playing games, or doing anything graphically intense, my system becomes unstable, and the application crashes.

I am using all the latest drivers for my hardware, as well as the patches for the games/applications.

Would reduction of the pagefile size lead to this kind of instability?

If you reduce your page space and if you run out of page space for what you are doing that can cause instability as the OS runs out of page space it can crash or programs won't run and come up with an error message.

Check out all instructions about the use and care of page space for your OS.
