I still couldnt get the nvidia drivers working (onboard 6100). I tried for pretty much an entire day - reinstalling, tweaking, following guides, trouble shooting etc. The driver from nvidia's site worked but broke things and the ubuntu packages for the driver never worked. I would always either get a blank screen after rebooting or have to redo X at the command line using the vesa module with xorg. However in slackware the driver from nvidia's site works fine without any problems.
