Hi, I read this forum everyday and this is my problem. I was trying to test a new card so I took out the old ( a maxi gamer xentor) After putting back this card, during boot up the computer beeps once then 3 short ones, black screen. nothing on it, then shuts down. Is this card dead?

Probably dead. Though I don't have a handle on beep codes, i'm sure it means there is a particular problem. Try it in another box to confirm.

Take the video card out and let the computer boot all the way into windows. This will change it to adapter default. Put your video card back in and make sure it is seated properly, also check your other devices, ribbons, memory and make sure you didn't loosen anything. Maybe booting into safe mode and checking the device manager to see how many monitors or what display adapter Windows loaded before booting into your OS might not be a bad idea (if you get it to boot), remove all other drivers from the add/remove programs while you're there.
